Recently Microsoft announced the release of their new Windows 10 operating system. They have taken all of the feedback from previous operating systems and developed a product that they believe to be refined and more user friendly than Windows 8.1. The upgrade from Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 will be offered as a free upgrade for a short time to qualifying PCs. While this is a great deal for home consumers who wish to upgrade this is not the best idea for business computers. The simple reason for this is that some application vendors have not upgraded their software to be compatible with Windows 10. While this will happen in the future, it is important to understand that upgrading to Windows 10 prematurely could render some line of business applications inoperable. To that end we are asking that all users be aware and not register for the free Windows 10 upgrade on any work PCs whether they are used in the office or for remote access. We have also gone ahead and blocked the Windows update that offers the free upgrade to clients for all PCs we currently monitor. As the operating system is released, updated, and tested we will continue to watch and verify that the new Windows 10 is compatible with all line of business applications and suits client’s needs. If and when an upgrade is viable or necessary we will perform these as needed. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this and as always we look forward to working with you in the future!
